The company, a growth-stage startup in E-commerce headquartered in United States, needed to solve this challenge: “checkout platform for a multichannel retailer”. The client had already selected the professionals it wanted to bring on, but had no legal or payroll structure in their home countries to hire them directly while complying with local labor law. The team also lived with methodological problems: no clear agile cadence, unreliable estimates, and difficulty consistently prioritizing the backlog. The competitive window was short: a competitor with a similar product was already gaining market share.

The client came in with profiles it had already chosen on its own —outside the Squadmakers community—; our role was to evaluate them, without proposing them or deciding on the client's behalf, and to manage, within 24h, their AOR-based hiring: contracts adapted to each country of origin, data validation, onboarding, and any benefits the company wanted to offer them.
The squad brought on 2 profiles (backend developer, full-stack developer) working on a stack of Node.js (Express.js), React + Next.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Bitbucket, Azure. The company had no consolidated in-house technical team, so the professionals it selected and decided to hire itself operated as the product's engineering core from day one. The engagement ran for 12 months in total.
