Problem Statement

The client, a Spanish public institutionin the tourism sector, needed to solve this challenge: “a voice-interactivechatbot robot for an international tourism trade fair.” It wanted a robot ableto chat with stand visitors about the places, festivals, and local cuisine ofthe city it was promoting, to generate real tourism interest. The obstacle wasfinding, in very little time, an unusual combination of profiles —generative AIengineering applied to voice, mobile development in Kotlin, and product design—,all under a fair date that allowed not a single day of delay. As apublic-facing institutional project, leadership needed to stay constantlyinformed of how development was progressing, with no last-minute surprises.

Our Solution

Squad Challenge generated challenges for4 key profiles on the project —generative AI engineer, backend developer, mobile developer (Kotlin), and product designer—, with an average of 5candidates analyzed per position (20 evaluated in total) against the businesscase itself, in a range of between 3 and 7 days given how tight the schedulewas.

Squad Hiring managed, within 24h, theAOR-based hiring of the 4 professionals validated through Squad Challenge, handling contract generation adapted to each developer's country of origin, data validation, and the onboarding process.

Squad Master AI was key to keeping theinstitutional client informed at all times: with a very tight fair deadline, its dashboards continuously conveyed the project's real progress, withoutrelying on one-off reports, right through to the stand's opening.

The Enabling Team brought in a TechnicalLead and a Scrum Master who coordinated both the team and the institutionalclient itself, organizing priorities and ceremonies under the pressure of afixed fair date. The methodology applied was, as always, an adaptation of Agileto the client's type of organization, with a very short delivery cadence aimedat making it to the fair on time.

The squad brought on 4 professionals(generative AI engineer, backend developer, mobile developer Kotlin, productdesigner) working on a stack of Python (FastAPI), LLM (OpenAI/Azure OpenAI),speech recognition and synthesis (STT/TTS), Kotlin (Android), PostgreSQL,GitHub, and Azure, proposed by Squadmakers —they become part of the client'steam, not Squadmakers'—. The robot was a hit at the international tourism fair, and the project continued as a recurring collaboration year after year, improving the robot with each new edition.
